Inle Princess, Inle Lake
Our first choice hotel at Inle Lake, created to share a genuine experience of Inle, its innovative local cuisine, traditional practices, architecture and artwork while nestling sustainably in the community, natural landscape and the lake environment.
The resort lies within the blue mountain ranges on the east bank of Inle Lake near the Magyizin Village. Each of the chalets was built by Intha carpenters out of bamboo and reclaimed hardwoods such as teak and pyinkado; all have enormous windows to capture the sparkling light and private terraces to take advantage of the spectacular vistas. Shan and Intha silk textures and ceramics add splashes of colour; clay-oven-inspired fireplaces pump up the heat on chilly evenings and fun rowboat-shaped baths bring the outdoors in.
Why we love this hotel - The manager runs a hotel and tourism school at the lake, training students and offering them careers at the Princess Resort. The resort also grow their own vegetables in their organic floating garden and produce paper to create the lamp shades in the hotel and restaurant - their finishing touches are wonderful and everything is really authentic. Also, one of the only hotels with both road & lake access, and a swimming pool.
PJ Tip- Always choose a lake front villa.
