Fly south to the dunes and canyons of the vast, awe inspiring Gobi Desert then begin travelling overland northwards through the stunning Arkhangai mountains, visiting historical sites and points of interest along the way before flying west to the rugged Altai mountains where Kazakhs display their unique practice of hunting with golden eagles.
Your jorney starts in Ulaanbaatar then travel south to Dalanzadgad in the heart of the Gobi Desert. Explore Yolyn Am (Eagle/Lammergeyer Gorge) to search for wildlife, ride camels and climb the Singing Dunes at Khongoryn Els for spectacular views across the land before looking for dinosaur fossils at Bayanzag’s 'Flaming Cliffs'. Travel north via the ancient monastery ruins at scenic Ongiin Khiid en route to the capital of the ancient Mongol empire at Kharkhorin. Hear the monks chant during morning ceremony at Erdene Zuu Khiid, trek in the foothills of the Khogno Khaan mountains and see the wild Przewalski's horses at Khustai Nuruu National Park.
Your journey culminates with a trip west, to the Altai mountains for the spectacular Sagsai Eagle Festival. Stay alongside Kazakh eagle hunters and experience their immense hospitality and skill. Watch as they and their impressive eagles show off their skills in a festival joining the best hunters in the country.
