The Magic of Myanmar
Myanmar is an enchanting, exciting, diverse and wonderful country with so many beautiful and interesting sites that it might feel quite daunting knowing where to start planning your bespoke tour. Jade has put together a few ideas that take in the best that Myanmar has to offer with some time to relax thrown in. It is, after all, a holiday.
This three week journey showcases the very best of Myanmar - visiting the highlights of this magical land, but also taking you deeper into less visited areas such as Hsipaw in northern Shan state where you will be hosted by a local family. Travelling by local trains and on the Irrawaddy river ferry between Mandalay and Bagan you will discover hidden delights as well as experiencing Burma's classic sights. End your time in Myanmar at the fabulous Ngapali beach.
Fly from bustling Yangon to Lashio in Shan State and then by road to the laid back town of Hsipaw. The area boasts some of the best trekking routes in the country. Trek through lush scenic landscape and enjoy the hospitality of the Palaung and Shan on the way. From Hsipaw travel by rail to Mandalay crossing the Goteik viaduct (the highest in the world when it was built in 1899). Take the public day ferry down the Irrawddy to Bagan. Enjoy a couple of days at the historic site and perhaps take the spectacular early morning hot air balloon flight before flying to Heho and transferring to Inle Lake by road and boat. From here fly to the coast to enjoy a few days unwiding at Burma's best beach at Ngapali.
Where to stay:
I have carefully selected charming properties in spectacular locations to give you the best experience in the country. Stay in the colonial boutique Savoy Hotel in Yangon, experience a lake front villa on stilts at the Inle Princess, stay in a garden room set amongst temples at the Hotel @ Tharabar Gate, relax in a beach front house on Ngapali Beach at The Residence by Sandoway and have the privilege of being hosted by a local family in a remote village homestay. A truly wonderful mix of accommodation to enjoy.
Jade's Top Tips

- Greet everyone with a smile and the phrase “Mingalarbar!”
